APPEAL from the President:
You are probably aware of the human toll inflected on conflict-displaced families trapped in war-torn regions of Pakistan. Families with the young, the helpless and the elderly. Families scarred by the devastating consequences of war. Families fleeing their destroyed homes, their livelihood wiped out. Families attempting to survive in temporary camp sites amid severe shortages of medical care and food supplies.
In an attempt to alleviate such human suffering, Al-Shifa Eye-Trust is focusing its efforts on the northern areas of Pakistan. These efforts include the provision of eye care, general medical care, and medication to conflict-displaced families at temporary camp sites as well as at local villages upon the return of the displaced. During my last visit to Pakistan shortly before the holy month of Ramadan, I experienced firsthand the extent of need and desperation in the camps, Al-Shifa Foundation of North America sponsored an eye care, general medical as well as a food supply drive for one of the camps to help the conflict-displaced families.
As you are aware, the conflict is still going on. More families are displaced. More hardship and suffering endured. Al-Shifa Eye-Trust continues to provide general medical and eye care.
